The story that hasn’t been written yet
I been a ThinkPad user since year 2001 & immediately fell in love, since then I was unable to own any other laptop. Even when doing IT work on someone else laptop it really bothers me, I know it’s sounds silly, but it’s true.
Few years ago I upgraded my ThinkPad like I do every couple years, it was X390 ( i7-8565U / 16GB / 512GB, Touchscreen & of course best warranties, Premiere, ON-SITE etc ) it was a great machine & served me well like any previous ThinkPads. So few weeks ago I decided it’s time to upgrade and chose X series like I always do, a X13 Gen2 ( i7-1270P / 32GB DDR5 / 512GB, Touchscreen & added same BEST Warranties). I was super excited & couple weeks later it was here. The design and quality was amazing like I expected, touchpad was like a butter, it’s a fabulous looking machine, but that’s where it all ended!
Right from gecko as soon as I tuned it on and set it up for use, the fingerprint reader didn’t work, did driver updates, troubleshooting, nothing… I’m myself am in IT business so I fix the solutions 99% of the time. However I was so happy that it didn’t bother me and thought I will contact support some time later. I kept using both X390 & X13 at the same time, transferring software, files & moving stuff to a new home. So X13 stayed plugged it most of the time, sometimes I would take it to a different room for an hour and then come back to my office & plugged back in. However few days ago I wanted to test out the battery life (I did pay a bit extra for a larger one), choose middle performance, screen 60%-70% bigness, started the timer on the phone and off I go to read Tech news articles, talking on IRC, replying to emails, writing reports and maybe 30min of youtube, so basicity a very minimum load on machine, maybe e 4%-6% CPU usage. And then IT happened, the computer was done, battery drained… I looked at the timer & was SHOCKED: 3 hours 2 min !!! That was the huge blow, I couldn’t believe it, but it’s true. I knew if I went with AMD Ryzen 7 Pro I would of gotten more out of the battery, but this was crazy low time. And my problems didn’t stop. My screen started to lock it self, sometimes 3-5 times in 10 min while I’m reading something, it wasn’t logging of, just locked it, I would need to enter my PIN to get back and continue. Day after that the keyboard started to stop working for 10-20 seconds once in a while as of today (3/19) it happened maybe 12 times already. So my heart was broken, I already have called support, but will have to wait for Monday for them to call me back. Btw, while with was talking to PREMIERE Tech support I was advised to factory reset everything not long after we started talking, that kinda blew me away, that solution…
I really wonder what will LENOVO do! I was so upset I bought this domain, I Tweeted & posted on Instagram. Will Keep you updated! PART 2 is PABLISHED!
